Welcome to the home of the West Coast Marathon Championships!
For years the mountain bike marathon has been an integral bridge between endurance racing
and cross country racing. The mileage for the marathon varies between 50-70 miles and
encompasses all kinds of epic riding conditions. The SoCal Fat Tire Epic 50 will take place at Vail
Lake Resort in Temecula, CA. The course is a demanding 50 mile epic adventure. The Course
consists of 2 laps of 24 miles for most categories, with long climbs and twisty -fun- roller coaster
downhills. Lets not forget about the classic Vail Lake rolling ridge line descents! With
spectacular views of the wineries, Palomar Mountain, and the Agua Tibia wilderness. This event
is sure to be a classic destination!
Please note the venue for this event will be at the Pool area of Vail Lake Resort. It will not be at the Merlot Mesa. Please book campsites and make plans accordingly. If you go to www.vaillakeresort.com and look at the campground map. look for the Huck Finn pond and the Pool area. That is where this event will take place

$40 Beginner 1 Lap
$80 per racer ( 2 lap race )
$125 per Team ( each racer does 1 lap )
All racers or teams who register the day of the race will have a $10 late
registration fee!
There will be a 500 racer field limit to include all categories! NO
EXCEPTIONS!!!
So get registered asap!
Only pre registered racers will receive an
event t-shirt!
Event t-shirts will also be available on site
the day of the race for $10/ t-shirt.
Please note Vail Lake resort charges a $10 day fee, this is in addition to any race fee

Morning at Packet pick up between
6am - 8am
SoCal Fat Tire Epic 50:
- All riders must check in prior to the race.
Check in times
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm Saturday, pre race day
6:00 am - 8:00 am Sunday morning ( race day )
The Race starts at 9:00am sharp!
- Race venue is held at the Merlot Mesa Campground area at
Vail Lake resort.
- Mandatory racer meeting at the start/ finish line at 8am race
day!
- Get to the event early for the best pit areas. Pit area will be
designated at the venue
- Race Start time 9 am
- The start will be in mass.
- The second lap will not include the parade lap
- Each category will be grouped together in order.
- There will be 4 aid stations on the course.
- Each aid station will have water and supplementation
- All racers can have neutral support
- All racers can have team support at any neutral aid station
- There will be a racer pit area near the start finish line.
-There is camping at the venue

-Vail Lake is giving a special camping 15% discount to all our
racers and support folks.
- There will be food at the venue
- All racers must be done by 5:00pm
- Award ceremony will start at conclusion of the race!
-Vail lake charges a $5 day fee for all vehicles,
this is not part of race fees and must be paid the day of the race!

The 2014 course is posted above. Please note My crew and I will be
working on the course for the next month. The course will
be in tip top shape by race day!
2 X 24 MILE LAPS + a Parade lap to start the race
Special Awards will be given to the winners of each category
This is a 100% Pro Payback race. That means we will payback 100% of the Pro Entry fees to the top 3 in both the Mens and Womens Pro Category races. The Mens and Womens Pro Categories will be paid seperatley based on participation in each category!
All 1st place finisher's in each category will be crowned
West Coast Marathon Champions!
All top 3 finishers in each category will receive Awards.
